In the surroundings there are lots of artisan and antique ateliers, local food shops and delicious osterie (traditional restaurants). Some of the cultural landmarks that can be found close by in Castello beside the well-known Arsenale and Biennale Gardens include Basilica Santi Giovanni e Paolo, Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni, Church of San Giorgio dei Greci, Campo Santa Maria Formosa, Church of San Zaccaria and many others.
The Alighieri can be reached from the Marco Polo Airport by private water taxi in about 20 minutes ride through the lagoon, or in less than 5 minutes’ walk from the Vaporetto (ferry boat) stop San Zaccaria, thus conveniently located.
The entire property has been completely and luxuriously restored in 2013: an elevator has been installed, the original terrazzo flooring repaired, frescoes and stuccoes brought back to the ancient splendour, the terrace equipped with table, sunshade and sun chairs.
A welcoming hallway leads you straight into the grand master bedroom, where superb furnishings and plenty of natural light really enhance the beauty of this exquisite bedroom. Sleep under the frescoed ceiling and feel like a Doge as you awake!
The elegant living room showcases a contemporary and functional open plan kitchen, while offering very comfortable sitting space on a designer sofa. Dine either at the main table or at the breakfast bar, part of the kitchen. There is an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and a further en-suite bathroom with shower for the second bedroom. This bedroom has a more contemporary feel with crisp linens and fresh interiors. A clever mix of classic and contemporary to suit all. The apartment features a spacious attic floor that can be used as extra bedroom with a French size bed (140 cm wide) perfect for 2 children or 1 adult.

Had a fantastic stay. The apartment was beautiful and well furnished. The location was perfect, slightly away from the hustle & bustle but only a short walk to the centre.

The flat was clean and full of light, and gave our group of five all the room we needed. The meet-and-greet when we arrived was easy to follow and slick, and we weren't disappointed with the location, which had been sold to us as out-of-the-way but close to nice restaurants and shops. You're only 10 mins max from St Mark's Square, 15 mins from the Rialto. The area of Castello we were in felt authentic, with local people going about their business.

Stayed at this apartment for 4 nights. Very spacious and adequate for 4 people. Good location as it is only about a 5-10 minute walk to St Marks Square and in a very peaceful area. Nice sun terrace also. Rep met us off the airport also. Actual building is exclusive with about 4 flats on top floor. Owner also live in a flat here to. Met her one morning, was very welcoming and pleasant.

The apartment was lovely and just as it looks in the pictures. It was clean, charming and had beautiful views of the rooftops of Venice. It also features a lovely shared rooftop terrace that was perfect for sunset wine and snacks. I was a little worried that the location would be overrun with tourists spilling over from San Marco but it was just far enough away to be out to the fray. Truly Venice was great to deal with throughout the entire process. They even sent a person to meet us at the nearest vaporetto stop to take us to the apartment, which was a comfort as we were travel weary! He also took the time to mark a map with the location of the grocery store, restaurants, bars etc. near the apartment. It was a great apartment for two couples as each bedroom had it's own bath, but it would also be good for larger groups too as it featured an attic level with twin beds that we never even used.

Ideally positioned for seeing the sights of Venice with benefit of having a supermarket around the corner. Well appointed with access to roof terrace being a real bonus for al fresco breakfast and glass of wine in the evening. Would highly recommend to a family or two couples sharing.

Four of us stayed in Aligheri D Apartment - this spacious, quiet and private 2-bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment with kitchen, lounge, dining and an additional toilet was wonderful. Having a lift was a real bonus. An excellent terrace shared with other occupants of Aligheri A, B and C apartments. From the lounge and both bedrooms there were views of the canal next to the apartment and they also overlooked a beautiful garden. A short walk to the vaporetto stop of San Marco-Zaccaria made it accessible to all of Venice.

Great apartment in a fantastic location! My husband and I along with our three children(6,10,12) stayed here for a week in August and it was a great fit for us. It is always nice to have space when you are a family of five traveling in Europe. The loft area was set up as a twin bed and that gave us plenty of space. The location was fantastic as it was a quick walk to St. Mark's Square but nice not to be in the middle of all the action. We found a great cafe that made us "ice coffee" and Nutella crepes in the morning...right around the corner. The apartment is on the top floor of the building so be prepared for the stairs. There is an elevator that some of us would ride up and down but it could only fit 3 of us at a time. None of us minded the stairs! The apartment was clean and the beds were comfortable. It looked a lot like the online photos. The air conditioning and Wifi worked great! I was impressed with the bathrooms as we had a bathtub and a "fixed" showerhead in another(plus a blowdryer). There is also a laundry room on the ground floor but we didn't use it. Overall I think this is a great apartment for a family or someone spending a chunk of time in Venice. If you have a bigger group the other units they offer are all off the same hallway at the top of the elevator. I am sure they are all nice. I would stay here again!
