Beside the location and the superb interior design, the highlight of the Carmen apartment is in fact the picturesque canal views that can be enjoyed from the living room and bedrooms: looking out the windows you can see gondolas gliding by on the calm emerald waters.
The location is possibly the best in Venice’s historical centre for its quietness, beauty and central position. The vaporetto stop and the supermarket are only two minutes away and there are plenty of excellent restaurants and cafés nearby.
It is found at the 3rd floor of an historic Palazzo that gain access from Campiello dei Callegheri and is equipped with elevator, it has been long-time owned by the same family who completely renovated it and now offered to our privileged guests.
The Carmen apartment is about 80 square meters large and consists of a living and dining room with a comfortable sofa and a table for up to 6 people; two double bedrooms, the first has a king size mattress, the second has two single mattresses that can be set up as one double bed on request; two full bathrooms, the first next to the living room is very spacious, the second between the bedrooms is smaller, both features a nice shower cabin; a spacious and functional kitchen equipped with a set of professional cooking pots, pans, utensils and porcelains, 4 induction stoves, dishwasher, oven, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee maker.
Every room is equipped with an efficient air-conditioning system and there is climate-controlled heating, Wi-Fi internet connection and there is a Smart TV in the living room, beside the washing machine in the main bathroom.
The Carmen apartment (named after the well-known Opera from Georges Bizet, represented also at the Fenice Theatre) is one of the 6 units available in this Palazzo and can be combined with the Madama Butterfly apartment, also found at the same level, door to door. We call the combination of the two Rigoletto: a perfect solution for groups of up to 10 people.
We highly recommend the Carmen apartment for 4 demanding guests who are looking for a truly charming and exclusive home.

A very cozy apartment, well-furnished and equipped. Only seven minutes’ walk from Saint Mark's square. It was just 3 minutes’ walk from the vaporetto station which proved to be extremely convenient. I think we made the best choice. it was quiet, near to everywhere, didn’t had to worry about vaporetto’s night hours itineraries. The apartment was situated in a quiet neighborhood, facing small canals, only gondolas were passing by. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was very well equipped; couldn’t ask for something more. I would definitely recommended it.

This was a week that more than matched our hopes and expectations. Carmen is in a quiet, central location. It's only a short walk from the Giglio vaporetto or water-taxi stop. There is a decent Despar supermarket only a few minutes away. The apartment has two spacious bedrooms, a spacious lounge-diner with a good kitchen area, and one large and one small shower/WC room. Everything worked, the beds were comfortable, the towels and toiletries were fine - in fact the apartment had more than we would need. If need be you could do the laundry and cook main meals (we didn't). The whole apartment is light and airy. All of the communications from the Truly Venice office before the trip were clear and timely, and especially useful in getting from the airport (VCE) baggage hall to the water taxi. It was great to be greeted at Giglio by the local rep (thanks, Anna) who also had some useful tips. The guidebooks and listings left in the apartment were also useful. The lift was always working, and we needed it every day to get back up to the top floor. There is an interesting view from the one of the bedrooms. When we needed to share a small future maintenance issue (by email) the office responded very quickly. However, I go back to the location as our key reason for choosing Carmen. Having just a short walk to San Marco, La Fenice and Accademia, or to the vaporetto at Giglio, was such an advantage. We sometimes ended other excursions at San Marco just to enjoy that walk back (via Despar for a bottle of wine, maybe). It always felt safe. We went to the main tourist attractions and can't really add to what will be written elsewhere about them, but we couldn't possibly get round everything that this unique city has to offer in one week. We chose the Basilica, the Correr, the Palace, La Fenice, Peggy Guggenheim, Accademia, Arsenale, Lido and Malamocco, Scuola Grande, Frari, Murano, Burano plus generally strolling around. Tips: read the arrangements for recycling and rubbish disposal carefully - they initially seem daunting, but they worked fine. Get a 7-day ACTV pass (for the vaporetti) online before travelling and do the initial validation in the Venizia Unica office at San Marco. Consider at least one of the various museum collection passes. The water taxi is a great way to arrive at the city - use it when you arrive, at least, even if you take the slower route on departure. It's worth it. The drivers are very helpful when it comes to handling the suitcases and getting on and off. We used Google Maps a lot for navigating around the streets and walkways, so have a backup battery for your phone. The quickest way to Murano might be by (says Google) a walk to Fondamente Nove, but the nicer-but-slower way is a vaporetto ride along the Grand Canal first from Giglio, under the Rialto, to Piazzale Roma (not Ferrovia) to get on an empty No.3. Well, that's my opinion anyway. It gives you a better feel for how this city works.

Nice and very clean apartment just behind the Fenice. The apartment is well equipped and super clean. The location is quiet and perfectly centered. Only a few steps to San Marco square or Academia bridge.

We enjoyed our stay at Carmen. The location was great with canal views and it was lovely hearing the gondoliers serenade their passengers. Everything was walkable, shopping, restaurants and attractions. The apartment was well fit out though the ensuite bathroom is very narrow, so only one person could be in there at a time. The shower is also on the small side. The main bathroom is a good size, though it does lack storage space. The washer was great and the heating in the apartment was good enough to dry everything overnight.

Venice is wonderful, and our stay with Truly Venice was delightful, and easy. The apartment overlooks a canal and gondolas regularly drift by, sometimes accompanied by an Italian song. It’s just a marvellous experience and I’d love to return and stay longer next time. Great apartment with all you need and Truly Venice run it very well. I want to go back already.

Traveling as a group of 8 adults (4 couples), we were in need of an apartment that could accommodate 4 bedrooms & and 4 corresponding baths. This apartment fit the bill perfectly. We found the apartment clean and in good shape upon arrival, and the greeter that met us upon arrival was very helpful in both getting us to the apartment as well as then reviewing the apartment specifics and booking us a transfer to the train station at the end of our stay. The apartment was in a very central, and close to attractions location. We found the apartment to be a nice little gem in the middle of historic Venice!

Dear Veronica, I wanted to write to thank you and all the Truly Venice staff and agents so much for all your help in making our big family holiday in Venice so special and memorable. At every step of the way, the Truly Venice staff have been so helpful, communicative and supportive. The Rigoletto apartment (Carmen + Madama Butterfly apartment) is wonderful - exactly what we wanted and needed in terms of space, numbers and location. Thank you so very much. Best wishes, Juliet

A super apartment which is very central and close to all areas of Venice. Four of us stayed here and the lift was a real bonus for the older members in our group. Spotlessly clean with beautiful modern bathrooms, high quality bed linens and excellent facilities. The view of the canal below was an added bonus and it was great fun watching the gondolas glide by - we were serenaded nearly every evening. A quiet spot to stay close to many cafes and restaurants and only a 2 minute walk from the Vaporetto stop. Perfect - I would highly recommend booking with Truly Venice Apartments.

The appartement is great. In the shadow of the Fenice opera house. Canals et gondolas circle the building, it's typical Venice ! Bright, modern, clean, spacious. The déco is sober and tasteful and furnished with quality materials. 2 bathrooms, really practical. New kitchen appliances, washing machine is a plus. Basic kitchen crockery & cutlery (I woud have appréciated a cheese grater for the parmesan !) and most of all, good air conditionning- we had up to 36 °c when we were there. It is well situated for visiting Venice, not too far from the vaporetto and San Marco, Rialto and the Gran Canal can all be reached in a few minutes walk. Good choice of restaurants near, we liked those on piazza San Stefano. We would reccomend this appartement to other travellers.

The perfect stay in Venice! We stayed here this beautiful apartment for a week in August. The apartment felt like we owned it so beautifully decorated so welcoming and the best location in Venice. The canal view from the window is beautiful. The apartment itself is very nice, clean, light and spacious, with everything you need for your stay. San Marco is only a short walk away. We really enjoyed staying here. It's a wonderful place and if we ever come again to Venice I'm sure we going to stay there again.

Ideal getaway in the heart of Venice. Beautiful, secluded location, away from the crowd but so close to many beautiful spots in town. The presence of a lift, a rarity in Venice is a plus. The apartment is nicely appointed with all the amenities necessary for an extended stay. We will be back for sure, we loved every bit of our experience.

Communication was excellent both before and during our stay. We booked a private transfer from the airport (only way to do it despite the cost) and we were met then guided to the apartment (5 minutes walk away). The position is great. Restaurants, cafes, shops and bars only a couple of minutes away yet (apart from the signing gondoliers) peaceful and quiet. Truly Venice were very accommodating regarding our luggage as our flight wasn't until the evening, overall a memorable stay! Thank you.

What can I say...that would be enough! Loved our month in Venice staying at the Carmen Apartment. The location is excellent, close to San Marco, vaporetto stop but quietly tucked away. Everything you could possible need for a comfortable stay has been provided Daniela and her staff are available for any questions you might have. We were greeted at the vaporetto stop, guided to the apartment & shown how everything worked. The weekly cleaning service is wonderful & so nice to come back to fresh towels, linen & all as neat as a pin. We loved it so much we plan to return at the same time 2020. I think you would be happy in any of the apartments on offer as the standard is so high, in fact we have recommended a couple of other apartments to fiends. Having stayed in Hotels every year for the past 6 years, we found that staying with Truly Venice was a far superior option, we lived the local life, shopped at Rialto for produce & the local supermarkets. Woke with the church bells each morning & enjoyed the gondoliers serenade in the afternoons. Thank you so much!
